Our text is from Proverbs 3:24. When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
Our text, a few verses earlier mention wisdom and understanding. The author says these will give you peace and protection if you have and use them. So many times our sleep departs from us all because we do not use wisdom on a decision or use good judgement on a matter, and the results, second guessing ourselves, doubt, and loss of sleep. Perhaps this is brought on by a lack of prayer about the subject. We should ask God every morning to give us wisdom on the events of the day and how we handle them. If we don’t, we may even have a guilty conscience about not praying about the decisions of the day which may in turn bring about more loss of sleep. We will not have a good night. We know we should pray before we do anything, but we just don’t. Perhaps the devil has us convinced that prayer is a waste of time. It’s not. But, if nothing else, it will give you peace that you did the right thing by seeking the Lord. If you want to get a good night’s sleep, get up in the morning and seek God for the new day ahead, and when it’s bedtime————————-good night!
