Today our text is taken from Titus 3:8. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
The word “careful” is an old English word that is meant to be ‘full of care’ so the Bible tells us of some things that we are not to be full of care (worry) about and there are some things that we are to be full of care about.
The great apostle Paul told Titus to “be careful to maintain good works.” He further mentioned that this was to be a good testimony “unto men.” That is, it is not all about you because others are watching.
Be careful. You have a testimony that is very fragile. Even if you do a lot of good things but mess up one time around the wrong crowd, it will be very costly and in many instances can never be redone, fixed, corrected, or taken back.
Be careful. The Bible is a Holy book. It is God’s word so treat it as such.
Be careful. Prayer is the greatest source of power we have so use it.
Be careful. You have your body that you can use for the Lord so take care of it.
Be careful. Your joy is your strength so don’t lose it.
Be careful. What you have comes from the Lord so give thanks for it.
Be careful. If you have a good family, tell them you appreciate them because you won’t have them forever and it will be too late after they are gone.
Be careful. Time is a luxury so use it for God.
Be careful. Salvation is a blessing and a wonderful thing to possess so enjoy it and
Not to take it for granted.
