Never Too Old To Learn

Our text for today is from Numbers 20:12.                                                                                         And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. Moses at the age of around 80 had led the children of Israel from Egypt. Now, after a couple of years in the wilderness the Lord told him to     speak to the rock to get water for the people.  He disobeyed.  He struck the rock and as a result never did get to go into the Promised Land.  He got to see it, but he never was allowed to enter it as the picture indicates.  Sad, after all that he went through, didn’t get to go into the land that he and the people had so longed for.  The people go in, but he doesn’t.

I’m watching my dad at nearly 90 learn lessons on how to trust and lean on God instead of his own abilities.  Something we all will have to do eventually.  You can learn it early or late, it’s your choice.  But you will learn it given enough time because eventually it will come down to just you and the Lord anyway.

Moses at over 80 years old learned a lesson.  When God tells you to do something a certain way or at a certain time do it the way he tells you to do it.  If you don’t, it may cost you more than you want to pay.  God is serious about us keeping His commandments. This is something we all are…
