If I Had Just One More Opportunity

Our text is from Proverbs 3:27. Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

War Dead Honored On Memorial Day WeekendWe all have had experiences when we were in a situation and we let a opportunity go by without saying or doing something that we could have done, but didn’t. A last word, a last kind deed, a last hug, a last kiss or a last prayer. We are all guilty of this and many times we feel guilty or have regrets about undone things and we may say either out loud or to ourselves, “If I had just one more opportunity.” Well, the present is the time for doing because the past is gone and you are not guaranteed the future.

Our text indicates that when you have the power to do the right thing for someone, do it because tomorrow you may not have the ability to do it at all.

Try to remember that when you have the ability to do or say something for someone, it may be the last chance to do so, and this opportunity may never present itself again. Letting it go by may perhaps cause a bad feeling later or even regret. Seize the moment because once it’s gone it’s gone, and in many cases it will never come again. It will be history and that, you can’t change.

The same goes for getting saved.  Don’t wind up in the lake of fire in eternity saying, I if I had just one more opportunity to get saved.”  The Bible says in 2nd Corinthians 6:2, “…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”  See, it’s all about doing the right thing when the time presents itself.  Do not put this off because you may not be with us tomorrow.

Make history pleasant for others and yourself.

The present will be history tomorrow, so do what you can now.                                             This will make your future pleasant.
