It’s Your Turn!

Our text will come from Luke 16:22. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

it's your turnAs kids we would play games and someone would yell out, “It’s your turn!” letting me know that I was up to play.

Our text is about a rich man and a beggar. They both held different positions of status in their abode here. They both saw things different.  They both had different beliefs.  They both had different philosophies of life, and perhaps they went to different churches.  But one day it was their turn. Status didn’t matter. Wealth didn’t matter. Birthplace didn’t matter. Occupation didn’t matter. Friends didn’t matter, and how they felt about things didn’t matter.

Is doesn’t make any difference who you are or how old you are. It doesn’t make any difference what race, nationality, religion, sex, or how popular, famous, or wealthy you are; one day it will be your turn. You will be there. You will not be late and you cannot stop it from happening.

For some it is very young and for a few very old but regardless of our lot we will get our turn. When the Lord calls us, perhaps he will say, “It’s your turn!”
It’s your turn for what?

You will get your turn to lie in a casket.
I realize there are special circumstances for some. Whether they are blown up, burned up, drowning, or they just pass out of this life some other way that no one knows about; the point is that we all whether rich or poor, free or bond, male or female, save or lost, atheist or Christian, we all will get our turn to meet Mr. Death in person.

I have been to funeral homes for friends, co-workers, and family. They all got their turn. You will get yours.

The Holy Bible teaches us in Hebrews 9:27 that “it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

Now knowing this, what are you doing to prepare for your turn?

If you’ve never been saved you need to get saved today, not tomorrow. Your turn may be today.

If you have been saved, walk with the Lord as close as you can so when it’s your turn, you will be ready to go.

May God help you to be ready when you hear, “It’s your turn!”
