Who is Your Daddy?

Our text will come from Luke 3:38.  Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

who is your daddyOur text may seem to start in an unusual way but it is a continuing passage clear back from verse 23 with the lineage of the Lord Jesus Christ all the way back to God in verse 38.   The important thing to know is that God is well aware of these men and who their father was. Many, many times in the scripture there are names of men listed along with their father and perhaps their father’s father even to the 4th and 5th generations or even more.

Did you ever wonder why all the lineages are given in the Bible? The Bible is a book of life. In Hebrew and Greek all names have meanings. Therefore it would be no surprise to find you’re name listed somewhere in scripture. Undoubtedly, everyone’s name is in there somewhere, perhaps hidden by another name. The whole point of all this is to get you to see that God knows you and who your father is.

In the Bible there are only 2 kinds of people spiritually.  Saved and Lost. Each one has a father.
One is said to have the devil as their father. That would be the Lost.  Jesus said in John 8:44—Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.          See, some people’s father is the devil. They just don’t realize it.

Then on the other hand God is father to the Saved. In Romans 1 verse 7 the Apostle Paul speaks. To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. The saved have a father also. The saved have been born from above.  Jesus said in John 8  verse 23 that he was from above so our spiritual birth is from above making our Father from above. James 1:17 speaks of the Father which is from above. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

So I want to conclude with this question—Who is your Daddy?
