Our text will come from Matthew 2:22. But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
King Herod went on a killing rampage of children of 2 years old and under hoping to kill the baby Jesus. An angel warns Joseph about it and tells him to get out of town and go into Egypt till Herod dies. A few years later the Lord tells Joseph and Mary that it is safe to return home. But Joseph still had his doubts (notwithstanding) what was told to him of the angel about the situation, so he moves to another part of Israel where he felt it would be safer for his family.
Isn’t it funny, how even though we get the Lord’s approval to do something we still have our doubts?
That’s a lack of faith on our part. May God forgive us for our faithlessness.
Thank God that the Lord still works all things out for our good as he did Joseph (notwithstanding) our lack of faith.
