Don’t Forget Your Appointment

 My text for today is from Acts17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Our text tells us there is a specific day in which God has appointed that he will judge the world by Jesus Christ.

God has appointments with all of us. One is death. No matter how you exercise, eat healthy, and take vitamins, and get physical checkups you will eventually die.  But the good news is you can prepare for death.  How?

Get saved.

You will never be prepared for death if you have not been saved and it is the best way you can be prepared for death.  You probably are not thinking about death because you think it won’t happen to you today, you hope.  The folks that were killed on 9/11 thought they had their whole life before them.  Look what happened.  Some may have been prepared for death and some perhaps not.  You see, the devil doesn’t want you to think about death, that’s why he has passed out all kinds of play toys for you to occupy yourself with.  I-pads, mp3 players, cameras, TVs, computers, cell phones, notebooks, movies, video games and readers.  “That should keep you occupied for a while”, at least that is what the devil hopes.
Reader get alone and take a few minutes to prepare for death because that is one appointment that you will absolutely and most definitely keep.

How to prepare…

  1. Admit you are a sinner because you are—we all are.  Romans 3:23. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
  2. Believe that Jesus died and paid for all your sins with his blood.  He rose again the 3rd day to defeat death so one day death won’t defeat you by keeping you down.  You will come up too.  Call on him to save you.  Romans 10:9-10 and verse 13.—– 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
  3. Confess the Lord Jesus Christ before folks publicly.  Look at Romans 10:10 again. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Friend, get saved today because your appointment may be today.
