I Don’t See It

Our text is from Mark 10:51.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

This is the story as given in Mark concerning the blind man named Bartimaeus. As Jesus was passing by this man had been begging for donations and when he heard that Jesus was passing thru he cried out, “Jesus, thou son of David, Have mercy on me.” Some tried to get him to shut up, but he cried out even more.  He was desperate.  I’m sure he thought if ever there was a time to get healed of blindness now is the time and no one was going to stop him from trying.  Jesus commands him to be brought to him and the blind man drops his coat and immediately goes to Jesus.  Of course, Jesus does heal the man of his blindness.

Many folks are like Bartemaeus with the exception that they don’t know they are blinded.  Blind Bartimaeus knew he was blind and wanted healing but there are folks today just as blinded but either don’t know it or they don’t want healing because they enjoy their sin to the point of staying right where they are at.  Then after a while they realize that sin has taken them further than they wanted to go, cost them more than they wanted to pay, and kept them there longer than they wanted to stay.  By then it is very difficult to be recovered from the snares of the devil.  Thank God it is not impossible though.

Jesus gives counsel for blind folks in Revelation 3:17. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

If you want healing from blindness learn to see things the way God does, not the way the world does.  God tells the way he sees things in the Holy Bible.  If you spend time reading the word of God and believing it, then you will be anointing your eyes with eyesalve.

Just like blind Bartimeaus, you will be able to say, ‘I see it now!’
