Born to Die

Our text is from Matthew 1:21. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Romans 5:8. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Watching a new born baby is a joyous event. The new life coming into the world is a happy time. However it has its down side. It was born to die.

By that I mean as soon as you were born you began to die. If there is any doubt about that just don’t take a shower for about 2 weeks. You will start to stink and smell as if you are dying.

As we approach the holidays let us give thanks for what we have and for the great God that we have.

Out text tells us that Jesus came down here to save us from our sins.  That involved his sacrificial death on the cross because the other verse in our text tells us that he died for us.

He came all the way down here to be born just so he could grow up and die for us. That is, the sole purpose of his coming was to pay for our sins because we were not able to pay for our own sins. He was born to die…for us.

So enjoy the holidays, but keep in mind that we celebrate Christmas because Jesus Christ came into the world to die for us.
