A Good Nights’ Sleep

Our text will come from Psalm 4:8.  I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Understandably, many times we go to bed worried and troubled with all our problems and in doing so it deprives us of out much needed rest, especially if we have had a tiring day anyway.  Lack of sleep causes many health concerns and unneeded stress on our bodies.

In the verses preceding our text the author states that we are to talk to God with our ‘own heart’ as we lay there. Tell Him your problems and put your trust in the Lord.

That is the answer to a good nights sleep, not us worrying about things that we can’t change anyway.  Al that does is keep us awake.  Let God do the worrying and you do the sleeping.

You let God take care of His business and you take care of yours.

In the ole song, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” the first verse goes like this…

What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
