The Door is Left Open

Our text for today is from John10:9.   I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

When I was raised out in the country, we didn’t have AC so it was necessary to keep the doors closed and the windows open. As kids we would run out the door without shutting it, and mom would say, “Shut the door!”

In the Bible I read about a door that God has left open for us.

Praise God for the open door that is made for us because of Christmas.  Jesus came the first time to open the door to eternal life so that we could now go thru.

How do we go thru the door?  I’m glad you asked.

It’s a simple as a,b,c.

A. Admit you are a sinner and admit that you can’t save yourself.   I don’t care how good you think you are, you will never be good enough to go to Heaven.   Call on him to save you from your sins because it is your sins that will take you to Hell.  You see, you are not a sinner because you sin; you sin because you are a sinner.  Your nature that you are born with is a sinful nature.  No one has to teach you how to lie. You know that naturally. It is just in your nature to do be disobedient to God and his word. And don’t try to kid yourself, you don’t think everything right either and God knows about all those things too.  That’s why the bible says that we are all sinners. (See Romans 3:23).  And by the way. don’t try to convince yourself that you are keeping the 10 commandments.  Have you ever wanted something?  Then you just busted the 10th commandment.  That’s just one of the 10. Good luck on the the other.

B. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.   What did he do?  The Bible tells us. 1 Corinthians15:3 —For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And by the way, the blood that he shed was for you, not him.  It took pure, good, and holy blood (Gods blood) to take care of bad blood.
Now do you see what he did?  He came all the way from Heaven to pay for your dirty rotten sins.  You say that you are not that bad.  Review point a again.  So the bible says in Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  Did you notice it is a heart belief not a head belief?  It’s what you are really counting on to get you to Heaven.

C. Confess Christ as your Savior.   The very next verse in Romans 10 says, For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Confess what Jesus did for you to yourself, others, and to God.  That just seems to seal the deal.  After all, what’s on the inside will show up on the outside.

See…It’s really not that hard to go thru the door.  The devil made it seem that way because he doesn’t want you to go thru.  That would be a loss on his part.

What are you going to do?
