Our text will come from John 7:45-46. Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? 7:46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.
It is the feast of tabernacles and Jesus is teaching in the temple and the self-righteous, religious crowd argues with him and tries to kill him. Jesus continues to teach and some of the people begin to believe on him so the religious crowd (The Pharisees and chief priests) sends officers to take him. This is where our text picks up.
They go to take him but they couldn’t because they knew there was something different about this man. He was different from all others. Notice the text. “Never man spake like this man.” There was something different about Jesus. Jesus was truly the son of God, the savoir of the world, not an ordinary man.
You see, our savoir was not just an ordinary man. He was sent down here by the Father to finish a work on the old rugged cross that had to be done…all for us. He was not a sinner neither did he commit sin. He therefore was qualified to do the job of being our sin bearer and payment. No one else could qualify for the job because the Bible declares that we are all sinners. (Romans 3:23).
He truly was different in every way including holiness, purity, sinlessness, truthfulness, and faithfulness.
May God help you to see that “never man spake like this man.”
