Dead Gods

Our text today will come from Judges 10:13.  Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more. 10:14 Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

God made us in such a way that we will worship someone or something.  It is in our nature to worship something.  God made us that way so we could worship him with no problem.  I mean, he gave us life and blessed us so why would we have problem giving honor to whom honor is due?

Yet we all have gods that will not hear us and will do us no good at all.                                 We have hi-tech gods. Little things that make us spend much time with.
We have people gods ( Famous celebrities, politicians, movies stars, and musicians.) that may or may not know us but we think that they are gods.
We have money gods of which we can never get enough of. The money god won’t help when you have a broken heart.
And we have gods in our ownership that we worship. Cars, homes, jobs, yards, and collections sets of various kinds (Cars, stamps, baseball cards, guns, coins, bottles, and antiques.)  They won’t get us out of depression as a matter of fact, they might cause depression.

Those kinds of gods are dead. They won’t be there when you are hungry. They won’t help you when you are in trouble or in debt. They won’t get you feeling better when you are sick. When you are depressed or going through a sad time or tragic trial the 102 inch T.V. will be of no comfort at all. And if you experience the loss of a loved one a I-phone will not make you feel better.

Dead gods can’t deliver you when you are at war.

Notice our text. When the people were in trouble they couldn’t call on the dead gods because they knew they wouldn’t be able to do anything.

Call on the God that can hear you and help you.

Anything else will be just a waste of time.
