Hang in There

Our text for today is from 2nd Peter 3:17.   Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

One of our most difficult tasks in life is just to keep up the good work.  It sometimes is hard when your health is against you, your family is against you, your co-workers is against you, your friends are against you, and even the Devil himself is against you.

The devil is in the business of getting those that are trying to do good to give up.  Sometimes we may hear a voice that says, “You are too tired, too old, too inexperienced, too young, too sick, and too busy with other things, to continue with what you are trying to do.”

In our picture, you see the kitten that is, you might say, “On his last leg.”  But that’s when it is important not to give up or give in.  Why?  Because others are watching you, including the Lord.  You will have a impact on them too.

The Bible uses the term ‘stedfast’ (steadfast), several times.  It means to be unmovable, firm, fixed, or established.  The opposite of wavering, wishy washy, giving in, or changing.

Jesus didn’t give in to the opposition of His day and may God give us strength to be a follower of Him.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.               1 Corinthians 15:58.

As a Christian don’t ever forget this verse.

It may pay you to memorize it.
