Tomorrow May Not Be An Ordinary Day

Our text today is from James 4:13-15.  Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

The Sun Dial.  Just an ordinary time piece of its day much like a clock or watch is to us today.  But it can tell some stories because for each day that passes somebody is not having just an ordinary day.  True, many days for us are ordinary and hum drum but once in a while one day can make a big difference in our life.  Someone may be born, someone may pass away, we may get a new job, someone may get sick, someone may have a tragic accident with life changing results, or something as simple as buying a new car, buying a new home, or even getting engaged.
Our text says that you should not boast about what you are going to do tomorrow because you have no guarantee of tomorrow and what it will bring for you.  Tomorrow, the Lord’s plans for you may be different.  The the proper thing to say is, “Lord willing, I’ll will do such and such a thing”.  Do what you are supposed to do today and you will be prepared for what ever comes tomorrow.
So along this same thought you have no guarantee that you will see tomorrow’s sunrise.  All you have is today.  If you are not saved and don’t have things right with the Lord today then you are not prepared for eternity.  You need most desperately to get saved and get right with the Lord today.

You have today, but you may not have an ordinary day tomorrow.
