Today our text will come from John 11:25-26. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
Jesus has come to the funeral of Lazarus. There were those that was mourning the loss of Lazarus as anyone would be. Even Jesus wept, however he a made a remarkable statement that would change the views of funerals forever.
In our text He said that if you are dead, you will rise again and if you believe in him, this would keep you alive forever. That is, your spirit would never die and your soul would never end up in a lake of fire.
So when losing a loved one remember…
Your heart will ache because of their departure and you will have your emotional moments. (I speak from experience.) Give yourself time to mourn their loss. It’s normal. It’s not “Good-bye” but “See you later.” You will miss them but if you and the departed are saved you will see each other again. They are better off in the arms of Jesus. In Heaven our loved ones are alive more than ever. They are walking the streets of gold and singing praises to his name for the free gift of salvation. They are doing just fine.
You should look forward to seeing them, in the meantime, live for Jesus and walk close to him and do all you can for him. You may be with your loved ones sooner than you think. What a great day that will be!
If you are saved and Jesus does not come in your lifetime you will die physically but you will then be more alive than you have ever been before because you will be in the physical presence of Jesus Christ. You can rejoice forevermore because your soul is saved and your spirit is with Jesus and you will never die again. Praise the Lord!
When Jesus comes back you will rise up in a brand new body never to die, feel pain, or get sick again. Praise God!
In the mean time your loved ones would want you to keep on going for God and they would want you to be happy as does the Lord.
So remember, when you lose a loved one…may God help you to look on the bright side because it is brighter than the sun.
