Easy Come Easy Go

Our text will be drawn from the book of Proverbs. 23:4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. 23:5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

For so many, money is a god.  That is, that’s all they think about.  They play the lottery, play the scratch-offs, get involved in betting on horses and sports.  And even though some may win at times large amounts of money, in the end, most don’t have anything to show for it.  The Bible says that riches are like birds that fly away.  In other words, money that is easily gotten usually gets away easily and fast.

The Bible tells us that if man doesn’t work neither should he eat, and then on the other hand we are not to work just to be rich, the reason being, riches calls for riches and there is never enough.  I’ve heard of rich folks saying that one million isn’t enough.  They seem to always want the second and the third million etc. which proves one set amount is never enough. You will always want more.

Riches doesn’t satisfy our needs anyway.  Look at the Hollywood stars.  They have lots of money and they are drinking and doping themselves to death.  You see, money is not the answer to being happy, but Jesus Christ is.  And that is something that money just can’t buy.

If you want riches try investing in the Lords work where riches are stored up and they never lose their value, they can’t be stolen, and they won’t rot or rust.  Those are the riches worth working for.
